The Hague is the EU's law-and-justice capital. It hosts Europol, the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (around 1,400 staff), and Eurojust, the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (around 350 staff), and is co-located with non-EU justice bodies including the International Criminal Court, giving it the unofficial title of international city of peace and justice. The Netherlands' correction coefficient of 109.9 means salaries here run noticeably above the base rates. The listings below cover current EU vacancies in The Hague, mostly in law enforcement, justice and security.
The two EU employers in The Hague are Europol and Eurojust, both justice-and-home-affairs agencies. Europol, the larger with around 1,400 staff, coordinates law enforcement cooperation across member states and recruits analysts, investigators, cybercrime and counter-terrorism specialists, IT staff and the corporate functions around them. Eurojust, with around 350 staff, supports cross-border judicial cooperation and hires legal and case-management specialists. Both operate almost entirely in English given their member-state-facing operational mission, so a second language is welcome but rarely a daily requirement. Roles are advertised mainly as Temporary Agents and Contract Agents on the standard EU grades, with the agency running its own selection rather than a general EPSO competition.
The Netherlands' correction coefficient of 109.9 means EU salaries in The Hague run noticeably above the Brussels base: an AD5 Temporary Agent's €6,152.64 basic is multiplied by that coefficient, lifting real purchasing power. The 16% expatriation allowance and family allowances add further for eligible staff. On language, both Europol and Eurojust work in English day to day, making The Hague a strong option for English-first candidates. The city itself is compact and bicycle-friendly, has widespread English proficiency, a welcoming international community and easy access to Amsterdam and the coast, with moderate housing costs by major-city standards.
