Who qualifies for AD7

AD7 competitions and vacancy notices normally ask for a university degree of at least three years plus around six years of relevant professional experience, though the exact requirement is stated in each notice. As with all AD posts you need EU nationality and two official EU languages. AD7 is a common entry grade for mid-career specialists coming in as Temporary Agents at agencies such as Frontex, EMA, EFSA and EUIPO, where recruitment is run by the agency itself rather than through a general EPSO competition. At AD7 step 1 gross basic salary is €7,876.27 per month, rising to €8,911.48 at step 5, with automatic step increases every two years. Net pay lands at roughly three-quarters of gross after the pension contribution, sickness insurance and EU community tax, before the expatriation and family allowances that many staff receive. From AD7, the most common next move is AD9 within three to four years on merit, with AD11 (head-of-unit territory) usually reachable by year nine or ten for strong performers.
