WE ARE

We are Eurostat’s Unit B.2 for Dissemination and User Relations with 28 internal staff members

mainly based in Luxembourg, and 39 service providers supporting our work. In line with Eurostat’s

communication and dissemination strategy , we play a crucial and proactive role in providing users

with high-quality, attractive, accessible, and understandable statistics and data on Europe.

To achieve our mission, we provide a common entry point to our data and publications via

Eurostat’s website; we produce and promote innovative dissemination products; and we help users

find, use, and understand statistics, including through user support, targeted outreach activities and

social media. We are among the frontrunners within Eurostat and the European Commission in

leveraging artificial intelligence (AI).

Within the unit, our internal AI task force for the use of AI in dissemination and user relations

activities is achieving already important results: improving the visibility and usability of European

statistics in AI systems and search engines, exploring how AI could support dissemination and

statistical work, and helping colleagues develop the skills and confidence needed to use AI

effectively.

Our task force is delivering tangible results through its work strands on AI prompt engineering, AI

discoverability of official statistics, AI-powered sentiment analysis and social media community

management, AI-assisted machine translation in official statistics, special-purpose AI chatbots, and

other innovative AI applications. This work has been already recognised for “outstanding adoption

and use of AI demonstrating high impact across the Commission".

WE PROPOSE

Unit B.2 of DG ESTAT is seeking to hire a Project Manager (contract agent) in the area of artificial

intelligence with a focus on dissemination of European official statistics. (Reference: Call for interest ESTAT/LUX/2026/CA/523687)

The position will consist of a wide range of tasks, including:

• contributing to the unit's approach to AI in dissemination, in line with Eurostat's

communication and dissemination strategy;

• identifying, evaluating and piloting AI use cases;

• working on the design and delivery of AI solutions;

• contributing to the development of AI-supported services for users;

• developing, testing and maintaining AI prompts for the unit's dissemination and user

support products;

• applying AI to the production and promotion of dissemination products;

• ensuring the quality, accuracy and reliability of AI-generated outputs, and that AI use

complies with applicable data protection, accessibility and regulatory requirements;

• acting as a reference point on AI within the unit and sharing experience across Eurostat and

the Commission.

WE LOOK FOR

We are looking for a colleague with proven, hands-on AI expertise, able to develop and drive the

use of AI across the unit's dissemination and user support activities, and to work effectively with a

wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The ideal profile for the job is:

• A university degree in Statistics, Communication, IT or Engineering, preferably with a focus

on AI;

• At least two years of professional experience in project management;

• At least one year of professional experience in AI;

• Demonstrated experience applying generative AI and LLM-based tools in a professional

communication, publishing or dissemination context, to obtain reliable, reproducible results;

• Proven experience designing AI-supported services for end users, such as conversational

assistants or semantic search, ideally in a data-rich environment;

• Ability to identify where AI adds genuine value, and to assess accuracy, reliability and

quality risks in AI-generated content;

• Ability to explain AI capabilities and limitations credibly to both technical providers and non-

technical colleagues;

• Ability to work independently and in a team;

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Fluent English is a requirement. Knowledge of French and/or German would be an asset.

Salary at this grade

Basic monthly salary at FGIV runs from €4,449 (step 1) to €5,034 (top step), giving an annual range of roughly €53,388 to €60,408 before tax and allowances. Steps increase automatically every two years; the figures here are taken from the salary grid in the EU Staff Regulations.

Eligible staff posted away from their country of nationality also receive an expatriation allowance worth 16% of basic salary (around €712 per month at step 1 of FGIV) together with household, dependent-child, and education allowances where applicable.
