Unit PMO.3 “Sickness Insurance I” is one of the three units responsible for managing the Joint
Sickness Insurance Scheme (JSIS), which has almost 1 90.000 beneficiaries. The other two units are
in Luxembourg and Ispra. Unit PMO.3 is located in Brussels and consists of four sectors: (i)
Tariffication; (ii) Accidents and Occupational Diseases Insurance; (iii) Service to JSIS members, (iv)
Medical Authorisations, for a total of some 120 persons.

Unit PMO.3 “Sickness Insurance I” is one of the three units responsible for managing the Joint
Sickness Insurance Scheme (JSIS), which has almost 1 90.000 beneficiaries. The other two units are
in Luxembourg and Ispra. Unit PMO.3 is located in Brussels and consists of four sectors: (i)
Tariffication; (ii) Accidents and Occupational Diseases Insurance; (iii) Service to JSIS members, (iv)
Medical Authorisations, for a total of some 120 persons.
Sector PMO.3.002 "Accidents and Occupational Diseases" deals, amongst other things, with the
management of cases with reference to the legal basis of Article 73 of the Staff Regulations at an
interinstitutional level. It comprises 19 people supervised by 3 team leaders.
WE PROPOSE
PMO.3 is seeking to hire one Administrative Agent in the “Accident and Occupational Diseases”
sector PMO.3.002 .
Their main tasks include:
- Information and assistance to insured staff ;
- Case handler for accident, occupational disease and subrogation files;
- Management of deadline s;
- Reimbursement of medical expense s;
- Calculation of indemnities or amounts to be recuperated from third parties ;

As part of the multi -skilled nature of the job, she/he will be required to meet Joint Sickness
Insurance Scheme (JSIS) members directly, deal with telephone calls, emails or equivalent and
letters. With experience, they will be required to follow up specific files.
The tasks are very diverse and involve the use of different IT tools. Training will be provided on the
job.
The selected colleagues might also be requested, in the interest of the service, to work in one of
the Unit’s Sector, in particular within the Front Office. Such a position is highly rewarding, offering
the opportunity for the handler to provide help and support to our members, sometimes at crucial
moments in the life of our JSIS members. The effects of the work done are directly visible, which is
very rewarding on a human and intellectual level.
WE LOOK FOR
We are looking for an Administrative Agent.
The ideal profile for the job is:
- Previous relevant experience in high -quality customer service;
- Knowledge of the rules and regulatory framework of Joint Sickness Insurance Scheme
(JSIS 1) would be an asset ;
- Good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and willingness to invest in
acquiring sufficient knowledge of the Commission administrative procedures;
Additionally, the selected candidate should demonstrate the following personal qualities:
- Capacity to establish and maintain a good relationship with JSIS members, colleagues and
with other services, feeling comfortable working in a team and collaborating positively with
colleagues inside and outside PMO;
- High level of service orientation, discretion, flexibility, and professional conscientiousness,
along with a solid understanding of the strict rules on medical secret;
- Good analytical and organisational capability, with high capacity to prioritise daily tasks;
- Proven ability to be proactive, take initiatives , propose pragmatic solutions and work in
autonomy ;
- High level of resilience and ability to work under pressure when necessary.
Operational knowledge of French or English is essential, and good knowledge of the other language
is a strong advantage. Knowledge of any other EU language is an asset.
Please note that the PMO places great importance to customer service. The selected candidate is
expected to be client -oriented and might be required, in the interest of the service, to work directly
with customers, for instance, in the front office team.

1. Selection
➢ Am I eligible to apply?
You must meet the following eligibility criteria when you validate your application :
Our rules provide that you can only be recruited as a contract agent at the European Commission if
you :
General criteria:
- Are a citizen of a Member State of the EU and enjoy full rights as a citizen ;
- Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by applicable laws concerning military service;
- Are physically fit to perform the duties linked to the pos ition ;
- Produce the appropriate character references as to suitability for the performance of the
duties .
- Have passed a n EPSO CAST in the relevant Function Group for this position . At the stage of
the application, it is sufficient to be registered in the EPSO CAST data base.
Qualifications:
(a) Have a level of post -secondary education attested by a diploma OR
(b) a level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post -secondary
education, and appropriate professional experience of at least three years .
Only qualifications issued or recognised as equivalent by EU Member State authorities (e.g. by
the Ministry of Education) will be accepted.
Languages:
- have a thorough knowledge (minimum level C1) of one of the 24 official languages of the
EU 2
- AND have a satisfactory knowledge (minimum level B2) 3 of a second official language of
the EU , to the extent necessary for the performance of the duties.

The selecting unit chooses from the EPSO database 4 candidates with the appropriate profile and

2. Recruitment
The candidate selected for recruitment will be requested to provide documentary evidence in
support of the statements made in the database and, where relevant, the call for interest .
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a mandatory pre -recruitment medical check -
up carried out by the Commission.
➢ Type of contract and working conditions
The place of employment will be in Brussels .
The successful candidate will be engaged as a contract agent under Article 3(a) of the
Conditions of Employment of Other Servants , in function group FG II . General information on

The grade or proposed grade range , as well as the step in that grade , will be defined on the basis
of the candidates’ previous professional experience, in accordance with Commission Decision
C(201 7)6760 laying down the criteria applicable to classification in step on engagement .
The duration of the first contract will be 1 year . The contract may be renewed in the interest of
the service for a definite duration . If a second renewal of the contract is in the interest of the
service, the contract will be for an indefinite duration.
Salary at this grade
Basic monthly salary at FGII runs from €2,715 (step 1) to €3,072 (top step), giving an annual range of roughly €32,580 to €36,864 before tax and allowances. Steps increase automatically every two years; the figures here are taken from the salary grid in the EU Staff Regulations.
Eligible staff posted away from their country of nationality also receive an expatriation allowance worth 16% of basic salary (around €434 per month at step 1 of FGII) together with household, dependent-child, and education allowances where applicable.
