DG Connect develops and implements policies to make Europe fit for the digital age. We invest in
research, innovation, deployment and uptake of trustworthy and green digital technologies that
improve our economy and people’s lives. Through funding, legislation and policy initiatives, we help
ensure European leadership and independence in critical digital technologies and promote the EU’s
human -centric model of an innovative, fair and sustainable digital transformation of society.
Unit C1 “High Performance Computing and Applications” implements the EU’s HPC strategy and
supports strategic EU -wide HPC applications, notably the Destination Earth initiative, developing a
highly accurate digital model of the Earth. The unit also supports the development of the European
Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and collaboration of European National Research and Education
Networks (NRENs) through GÉANT.
WE PROPOSE
We offer a challenging but rewarding and interesting job covering both organisational and
administrative duties such as:
- Unit secretariat: support to the Head of Unit and Policy/Project Officers, such as agenda -
keeping, documents management, written (email) and telephone communications with
stakejolders.
- Support to unit organisation: HR management support (incl. SYSPER), document
management (ARES), missions management (via MIPS), BASIS coordination, meeting,
reviews and workshops preparation including booking rooms, preparing documentation,
providing logistic support before and during the meeting etc.
- Support to residual project management: meetings and missions organisation for
Programme Officers and tasks and priorities follow -up, (e)mail management, deadlines
follow -up etc.
- Other administrative tasks depending on the needs of the Unit.

You must meet the following eligibility criteria when you validate your application :

• Are a citizen of a Member State of the EU and enjoy full rights as a citizen
• Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by applicable laws concerning military service
• Are physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post
• Produce the appropriate character references as to suitability for the performance of the duties.
Qualifications:
In order to be recruited for this position, you must have at least
• a level of post -secondary education attested by a diploma, or
• a level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post -secondary
education , and appropriate professional experience of at least three years .
Only qualifications issued or recognised as equivalent by EU Member State authorities (e.g. by the
Ministry of Education) will be accepted. Furthermore, before recruitment, you will be required to
provide the documents that corroborate the eligibility criteria (diplomas, certificates and other
supporting documents).

In accordance with Article 29 of the Staff Regulations, applications from Commission officials,

Salary at this grade
Basic monthly salary at AST-SC1 runs from €3,292 (step 1) to €3,725 (top step), giving an annual range of roughly €39,504 to €44,700 before tax and allowances. Steps increase automatically every two years; the figures here are taken from the salary grid in the EU Staff Regulations.
Eligible staff posted away from their country of nationality also receive an expatriation allowance worth 16% of basic salary (around €527 per month at step 1 of AST-SC1) together with household, dependent-child, and education allowances where applicable.
