WE ARE
Unit E1’s mission is to mainstream and implement environmental policy priorities across the EU
budget. By doing so, it also helps mobilising additional public and private investments.
In particular, Unit E1 is responsible for the overall coordination of the current and next MFF, the
European semester, the management of the LIFE programme and the relations with CINEA. Unit E1
also prepares inputs to EU research and innovation policy, and to Horizon Europe (incl. co -chair for
Cluster 6 of Horizon Europe and s relations with REA).
Overall, ENV E1 contributes to delivering the Clean Industrial Deal and all policies led by DG ENV,
including the implementation of environmental legislation.
WE PROPOSE
Unit E1 is seeking to hire one administrative assistant (AST/SC).
The position will consist of dynamic job in a team of motivated colleagues working in an area of
direct relevance to EU citizens. The unit is large and diverse and fosters a friendly work
atmosphere. You will work closely with the other unit members to ensure that the unit delivers its
tasks and support the unit’s management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for various administrative and secretarial tasks, such
as:
• management of documents and correspondence.
• keeping track of deadlines for the tasks assigned to the Unit to ensure timely delivery.
• ensuring the proper coordination, communication and timely preparation and validation of
briefings, interservice consultations, etc;
• Provide assistance to the Head of Unit and the deputy Head of Unit in the management of the
service by responding to general inquiries and managing the outlook calendar
• Organise missions (MIPS+) and meetings of the Unit 4

• providing support for human resources management.
WE LOOK FOR
We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic colleague with the following competencies:
• Sense of initiative, team player and can work autonomously
• Very good organizational skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Good command of t administrative tools
• Knowledge of the following tools as TEAMS and WEBEX would be a plus.
Fluency in English is required. Experience in a similar position will be considered an asset. Good
knowledge of other EU languages, in particular French, would be an asset. 5

• Are a citizen of a Member State of the EU and enjoy full rights as a citizen
• Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by applicable laws concerning military service
• Are physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post
• Produce the appropriate character references as to suitability for the performance of the duties.
Qualifications:
In order to be recruited for this position, you must have at least
• a level of post -secondary education attested by a diploma, or
• a level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post -secondary
education , and appropriate professional experience of at least three years .
Only qualifications issued or recognised as equivalent by EU Member State authorities (e.g. by the
Ministry of Education) will be accepted. Furthermore, before recruitment, you will be required to
provide the documents that corroborate the eligibility criteria (diplomas, certificates and other
supporting documents).
Languages:

have a thorough knowledge (minimum level C1) of one of the 24 official languages of the

Salary at this grade
Basic monthly salary at AST-SC1 runs from €3,292 (step 1) to €3,725 (top step), giving an annual range of roughly €39,504 to €44,700 before tax and allowances. Steps increase automatically every two years; the figures here are taken from the salary grid in the EU Staff Regulations.
Eligible staff posted away from their country of nationality also receive an expatriation allowance worth 16% of basic salary (around €527 per month at step 1 of AST-SC1) together with household, dependent-child, and education allowances where applicable.
