Contract Type Other

About this position

The summary below is published by Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development on the official vacancy notice. Our own analysis — salary realism, comparable openings, career trajectory, language profile — follows further down the page.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development ([OECD](http://www.oecd.org/about/)) is an international organisation comprised of 38 member countries, that works to build better policies for better lives. Our mission is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. Together with governments, policy makers and citizens, we work on establishing evidence-based international standards, and finding solutions to a range of social, economic and environmental challenges. From improving economic performance and creating jobs to fostering strong education and fighting international tax evasion, we provide a unique forum and knowledge hub for data and analysis, exchange of experiences, best-practice sharing, and advice on public policies and international standard-setting.

The Executive Directorate (EXD) stewards OECD resources on behalf of the Secretary-General, with responsibility for people and wellbeing, budget management, security, infrastructure, and the OECD’s convening activities. EXD provides corporate services and strategic advice on management and corporate policies to the Secretary-General, Council and Standing Committees, and delivers compliance and risk management functions within its remit, operating in a fast-paced environment focused on management excellence.

Within the Executive Directorate (EXD), the Digital, Knowledge and Information Service (DKI) is responsible for overseeing corporate IT infrastructure and operations, maintaining digital security, information management, and delivering digital and other IT-related products and services. EXD/DKI also supports the safe adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies across the Organisation.

Following the recommendation of the OECD AI Task Force and in line with the evolving AI-related requirements of the OECD, the CAI division has been established to support the safe adoption of AI technologies across the Organisation. CAI is tasked with overseeing the shift from initial experimentation towards the scaled adoption of AI (from Exploration to Institutionalisation) that delivers tangible value with a clear emphasis on enhancing organisational impact, improving productivity, and transforming ways of working.

In this role, you will sit within the AI Lab in EXD/DKI/CAIO. The AI Lab supports the development and operationalisation of the OECD’s corporate AI framework by identifying, designing and implementing high-value AI solutions that strengthen the Organisation’s analytical and operational capabilities. Acting as the principal interface between the AI Lab and OECD Directorates, you will work closely with business teams to identify high-impact opportunities for AI, translate them into structured use cases, and support their progression from concept through proof of concept to operational deployment where appropriate.

A key responsibility will be to determine the most appropriate technical approach for each use case, assessing whether solutions are best delivered through enterprise productivity tools, AI workflows and applications, or more advanced experimental environments. In doing so, you will consider factors such as security, data sensitivity, cost, scalability, interoperability and organisational impact, while ensuring that AI implementation remains closely aligned with OECD analytical and policy work and supports a coherent Organisation-wide AI architecture and governance framework.

* Represent the OECD in international AI fora, partnerships and policy discussions.

* Build and maintain strategic relationships with governments, international organisations, academia and the private sector.

Career trajectory

Career progression for this grade staff is governed by Articles 44 to 46 of the Staff Regulations (consolidated text on EUR-Lex) and Annex IB on the promotion procedure. Step increases are automatic every two years (Art. 44); grade promotion is competitive, based on the appraisal exercise (Art. 45) and the Career Development Review. For roles at OECD, progression to the next grade typically takes three to five years on merit, with two-yearly step increases in between. Article 46 governs the classification at recruitment, which sets the starting step within the grade (usually step 1 for external recruits without prior EU service, step 2 or 3 where relevant professional experience is recognised).
Mobility within the institutions is encouraged via the inter-institutional and intra-institutional vacancy publication system: temporary agents who pass the probation period and reservists from EPSO laureate lists can typically apply to internal vacancies after one year of service. Lateral moves between Directorates-General reset the seniority clock for promotion only if the new post carries a different grade.

Language profile

Beyond the formal language requirements stated in the vacancy notice, the day-to-day working languages at this employer are English and French in roughly equal measure, with German appearing in some technical files. Internal meetings and most policy drafting in Brussels run in English; French remains the preferred internal language in Luxembourg-based services and parts of DG TRADE.

Application cadence

OECD has not advertised another comparable role with the same grade and Information Technology signature in the past twenty-four months. This opening has rarely been seen on the EU Careers feed and may be the first such posting in our two-year window. Applicants who pass the eligibility checks should not assume the same profile will reopen on a predictable cadence.
